Tonight Intervarsity hosted an Invisible Children event on campus. The event consisted of the showing of Invisible Children’s new movie Tony followed by a personal testimony from Acii Nancy a woman who grew up in LRA affected Uganda. At the end of the movie those who attended were called to action to stand against the injustice happening in Africa at the hands of the LRA (Lord’s Resistance Army) which is a terrorist group headed by its leader Joseph Kony.
The most hopeful part of the night was that God touched my heart and the heart of all of my housemates with the same conviction to raise awareness and do our part to support the organization and fight this injustice as a house. I’m excited to see how God will work through the community house to spread awareness to the community on a consistent basis and to raise funds toward supporting the programs that Invisible Children is putting in place to assist those in the war-torn areas of Africa.
We’ll make sure to put the link to our fundraising page for Invisible Children on here as soon as we get that all created but in the meantime please visit the Invisible Children website to find out more about the issue and how you yourself can get involved and spread awareness to your community. :)
